GRETNA, NE – After the monumental opening of the Hy-Vee store in June, Gretna could soon welcome another major retailer to its community. The Wisconsin-based Fleet Farm is making moves to establish a significant presence near the 192nd Street and Nebraska Highway 370 intersection, a stone's throw from Hy-Vee's newest flagship store.

Fleet Farm, primarily known in the Midwest, has acquired around 16 acres in Gretna. This would mark the chain's first location in Nebraska, with the closest existing store about 96 miles away in Sioux City, Iowa. The brand is an alluring blend for do-it-yourself enthusiasts and outdoor aficionados, offering everything from home improvement supplies and farm goods to hunting equipment and sporting goods.

While Fleet Farm's Frank Steeves, the company’s executive vice president, has confirmed the land purchase, the actual timing, and certainty of store construction remain in limbo. "We love the Omaha area and have purchased the property in Gretna suitably sized and located for a new store,” Steeves commented. However, he cautioned that there's no confirmation yet on when or even if the store will come to fruition.

The potential establishment of Fleet Farm in Gretna suggests a continued trend of significant commercial investment in the region. The opening of Hy-Vee earlier this year - lauded as a transformative addition for the community - offering a myriad of attractions and amenities, from gourmet food counters and a Wahlburgers restaurant to the town's first full-sized Starbucks kiosk.

Commenting on the surging growth of Gretna, a spokesperson for Nebraska Realty stated, "The recent Hy-Vee opening has already begun to reshape the town's residential appeal, potentially driving up property values. The potential arrival of Fleet Farm further underlines Gretna's magnetism for both homeowners and businesses."

With the ongoing developments, it's evident that Gretna is rapidly becoming a prime destination for major brands. The 135,000-square-foot Hy-Vee establishment has already impacted the local community in manifold ways, from job creation to potential property value increases. Should Fleet Farm decide to set up shop, it could further elevate the town's reputation and attract more businesses and residents.

While the future of Fleet Farm's presence in Gretna is still uncertain, the community's growth trajectory is clear. Major brands are recognizing the potential of this once-small town, and the local economy and real estate market are poised to benefit significantly from these investments.

"We've observed a distinct trend in the Gretna region," the Nebraska Realty representative further added. "The opening of Hy-Vee was a milestone, and the potential addition of Fleet Farm only amplifies the town's growth narrative. It's an exciting time for Gretna, and we're eager to see how these developments will shape our community in the coming years."

Gretna residents and potential homeowners can stay tuned for further updates on the Fleet Farm venture, but one thing is clear: Gretna's appeal is on a steadfast rise, and the town's future has never looked brighter.
