Donald Dreesen

Don Dreesen graduated from Wayne State College in 1970 with a BAE in education, majoring in political science and history. He taught school at Holy Trinity Jr. High in Hartington, Nebraska for one year and then entered the U.S. Army for three years, serving in Korea and Germany. After leaving the Army in 1974, he taught at St. Edward High School for two years while selling real estate part time.

In 1976 he began selling real estate full time as a salesman with Austin Realty Co. and in 1978 he received his brokers' license. In 1977 Austin-Campbell Realty Co. purchased the Century 21 franchise and he was with Century 21 for 24 years before opening his own office. In 2002 Don and his wife, Kathy, became affiliated with HOME Real Estate in Lincoln, Nebraska, and opened up their own office in Columbus. At the present time they have 11 salespeople under them.

While with Century 21, he received the Centurion Award annually for 11 years; the Masters Diamond Club Award in 1992 and 1993; the Masters Hall of Fame Award in 1994, 1995 and 1996; and the Masters Hall of Fame Award in 2000.

Don has also earned the Graduate Realtors Institute and Certified Residential Specialist rating in the real estate field.

He has been a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors, the Nebraska REALTORS Association and the National Association of Realtors. He has served on various committees for the Columbus Board of Realtors. In 1985 and 2009 he served as President.  In 1992 he was awarded Realtor of the Year by the Columbus Board of Realtors.

Don served three elected terms on the Columbus Public Schools Board of Education and served as President for 2 years. He has served on the Transportation Committee of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce for 15 years and served as its chairman for two years. he coached Little League baseball for 4 years and girl's softball for 15 years. he is a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sertoma Club, Noon Rotary Club, VFW and Legion Club.

In his spare time Don likes to work on antique automobiles and enjoys reading history books.
